Privacy Policy
CatchScreen is built so your screenshots never leave your device. This policy explains what that means in practice.
Last updated November 3, 2026
The short version
- Screenshots and images you open are processed locally, on your own device.
- We never upload, store or receive your screenshots, and we don't send them to any other service.
- CatchScreen has no accounts and no cloud library.
Who we are
CatchScreen is made by Voixity and is part of the Voixity Suite of Business Solutions. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Voixity. This policy covers the CatchScreen website at catchscreen.voixity.com, the CatchScreen web editor, the CatchScreen browser extension and the CatchScreen desktop apps.
Your screenshots
When you take a screenshot or open an image, CatchScreen keeps it in your device's memory while you annotate it. It is only written to disk when you choose Save, and only to the location you pick. Copy places it on your own clipboard. When you close the editor, the screenshot is discarded.
Blurred, pixelated and redacted areas are replaced in the image itself when you copy or save, so the original details are not included in what you share.
Information stored on your device
- Web editor: your light or dark theme preference is saved in your browser's local storage. Nothing else is stored.
- Browser extension: may keep a short status message (for example, why a capture couldn't be delivered) in session storage, which your browser clears when it closes. Screenshots are passed directly to the editor tab and are never stored.
- Desktop apps: keep screenshots in memory only, and save files only where you choose.
Permissions
- Screen Recording (macOS): required by macOS for any app that takes screenshots. CatchScreen only reads the screen at the moment you take a screenshot and never records video.
- Accessibility (macOS, optional): used only for automatic scrolling capture, to scroll the area you selected. CatchScreen does not read or collect any information through this permission. You can scroll by hand instead of granting it.
- Browser extension: uses access to the active tab only when you click a capture button, so it can take the screenshot and show the selection overlay.
- Web editor: when you click Take Screenshot, your browser asks which window, tab or screen to share. CatchScreen reads a single still image from it, then stops sharing immediately. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
This website
The website doesn't use advertising cookies, and its fonts and images are served from this site rather than third-party services. Like most websites, our hosting provider may process standard technical information — such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request — to deliver and secure the site, and may produce aggregated visit statistics.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell personal information, and because your screenshots never reach us, we have none to share.
Children
CatchScreen isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how CatchScreen handles information, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
